Project Management Seminars

Getting Things Done

Our project management training covers most aspects of executive education from idea evaluation stage to industrial project. These project management seminars are business oriented and teach people to make decisions. We emphasize the following general themes:

  • Business objectives: What do we want to achieve and what are the criteria for the success of the project?
  • Think finance When decisions need to be taken.
  • Be selective: What is important and what is not? Do we put enough efforts to achieve the key objectives timely? Do we have rules to detect and avoid dispersion?
  • Organizational aspects: Who does what? Do we need regular reports? What is the task breakdown, the planning, the priorities...
  • Teamwork: Emphasize that efficient team work is essential to a successful project

Overall, we recommend that each person gets 2 to 4 days of training, depending on his role in a project.

Private or Shared Sessions

We have conducted our project management seminars for single companies, or for multiple companies at the same time.

An example of the latter is when you want to align your whole value chain towards the same objective, therefore your suppliers and distributors are also included in the seminar.

'Kick-Off' &
  'On Track' Seminars

Overview

These 2 seminars are essentially the same, but they are held at different stages in a project.

The Kick-off seminar is done at the beginning of the project (just after program award). It emphasizes team organization.

The On Track seminar can be held any time, but usually 1-3 months before a gate review or anytime when a project needs re-focusing. It emphasizes re-focusing on the project objectives.

These seminars are custom designed and are specific of a project. Both are intended for the core team and should be limited to 10-15 people. All direct and indirect participants to the project should be included (for example quality, plant, engineering, procurement, controller...).

'The Business Plan as a
  Decision Making Tool'

Overview

This seminar is primarily intended for managers (projects managers, group managers or higher). Throughout this seminar, you will gain "how-to" skills through a series of interactive small-group workshops and case studies. As much as possible, your own project will be used as a case study.

You will develop a business plan based on a real case and use it to analyze a business situation from a strategic standpoint. The seminar emphasizes creating an attractive but credible package for a board of directors or for investors.

Note: Each participant should have a PC (1 for 2 people). A connection to Internet is strongly recommended.

Custom Designed Seminars

Overview

You select a project on which you want to work

It can be an early stage project (then we need several to avoid sterile debates and un-concrete talk). It can also be a precise project (and then the business plan seminar can also be a kick-off seminar)

We prepare in advance for 1 to 2 days to get acquainted with the project. We have a telephone pre-investigation to verify that there will be enough data to establish.

We conclude the seminar by an executive summary making recommendations for the next actions.

Project Management seminar

Overview

This 2 days seminar is intended for those people who had no opportunity to participate in a 'kick-off' or 'on track' seminar.

Presumably, these people are working part-time on several different projects or are juniors not included in a core team.

We run about the same content as the kick-off or on-track seminars. When possible, we use projects on which the participants are working. Alternatively, we use fictitious projects.
