Why TeamSide?
TeamSide was developed by a succesful
company executive, not by a sofware engineer. Therefore it
is not a mere project planning tool. TeamSide applies everything
Affor teaches in its seminars. We differentiate ourselves
by emphasizing:

- The need for people to have a clear vision of what
they are working for.
Our package is neither a time tracking software nor a task
management tool. It contains high level concepts such
as:
- Project framework
- Risk analysis

Core Features
Easy and accurate milestone reviews
- The goals achievements can be measured based on satisfactory
anwers to a number of key questions.
- Those questions are grouped in 'milestone check-lists',
similar to gate reviews, but peformed much more frequently
(typically 10-15 milestones in a project). The percentage
of satisfactory questions is a better indicator than time.
- The questions are based on templates of best practices
or industry benchmarks. They are customizable
in the sense that a project manager may create his own milestones
and include additional points that are important for his
program.
- Evidence of satisfactory anwsers can be stored as a memo
or attachment. Corrective actions can
be initiated and stored, with task owner and deadline.
Emphasis on work-package validation
- Work-packages are required to have a strong validation
procedure to answer the question: How do I know that
my milestone has the right quality? An other questionnaire,
based on best industry practices can be created from templates
and attached to a particular work package. These questionnaires
can be also custom designed by the program team at time
of kick-off.
Individual performance monitoring
- The primary purpose of the package is to let the users
report key check points, monitor their performance and review
them.
- We tried to have performance reviews not only for program
managers and workpackage owners, but also for other team
members. For example, one feature allows people to enter
each month their 3 key objectives, and report their status
at the end of each month.
Reports and balanced score cards can be created and
generated at any time. Reports showing the personal progress
can be also created.

Performance and quality document repository
- The package includes a vast repository storing
elementary data (such as the answer to a question). It also
offers the possibility to store comments and documents (quality
and performance oriented documents: the system is not intented
to replace a program file management system.)
- Being a repository, it is especially suitable to monitor
continous improvement.
Benefits
- It helps people 'know what they are shooting for' (50%
of the work !)
- It obliges people to have clear-cut specifications
for the work they are taking or giving to others.
- It reminds people the 'best practices' in a user
friendly way (People who read procedures are very small
exception...)
- It allows working step by step and reduces the
risk to carry a large number of 'unvalidated' or poorly
validated tasks
- It encourages anticipation.
Additional Features
- Risk analysis management
- List of open issues (the list of 'little things'
that come out of any program meeting)
- Automatic email reminder (if a task or a milestone
has not been completed on time, it sends a reminder with
a direct link to the faulty task)
Program Platform
- Easy to learn and navigate
- HTML interface (to allow simple deployment and maintenance)
- Based on a RDBMS database such as SqlServer or Oracle,
hence extremely easy to interface with any computer system.
